Today mourners gathered all day at Second Life’s 911 WTC Memorial site to pay respects to the 3,000 people who died on September 11, 2001. The ten pictures belown were all taken at the memorial site today.

Japan, as a nation and a people, have enough respect not to place a shrine for worship or learning anywhere near the site of the sinking of the U.S.S. Arizona, or anywhere at the site of the Pearl Harbor attacks, that I know of. I would respectfully request that the Muslim citizens who wish to build a mosque and a learning center, however multicultural and peaceful in nature, far more than two blocks away from Ground Zero, where the wounds are still so fresh. As U.S. citizens, I think most of us already understand that we are not at war with Muslims themselves or with Islam as a religion, only with those individuals who choose a radical view of Islam and choose to attack our country and its citizens. We cannot let the acts of a radical sect destroy the peace amongst the rest of our society. I entreat people of all faiths and backgrounds to treat Ground Zero as the hallowed ground that it is. Thank you.
